We must ensure that ongoing generations remember and commemorate the history of this country to learn from the lessons of history to become more involved with their communitites, have a better understanding of how our country came to be what it is, and thus have a better understanding of how to better their country further for a brighter future.

DETAILS ON EVENTS

December 1, 1955.

On this Day in History, Rosa Parks, an African American woman, was arrested for breaking an Alabama law by sitting in the white section on a public bus. Many African American people became outraged at the discrimination and segregation in America and thus began the Civil Rights movement for equal African American rights in the country. 

States which were admitted to the Union in December. 

On this month in history, the United States of America had 9 states admitted to the American Union. The states are as follows: Illinois (1818), Delaware (1787), Mississippi (1817), Indiana (1816), Pennsylvania (1787), Alabama (1819), New Jersey (1787), Iowa (1846), and Texas (1845).  

December 7 13th Amendment has been ratified and Pearl Harbor attack.

On this day, December 7 1941, a day which will live in infamy the armed naval forces of the United States in Hawaii were attacked by the armed forces of the Japanese Empire. This sudden attack took away the lives of thousands of Americans and damaged the Pacific Fleet. Although it caught American Navy off guard at first, it mobalized the entire American nation for war against Japan and it's Nazi and Fascist allies in Europe drawing it into WW2. 

On this day in history, the 13th amendment has also been ratified officially ending slavery throughout the United States. After a long bloody Civil War over the issue the amendment was meant to end the controversial issue which splt a nation in half.  

December 15, The Bill of Rights has been ratified.  

On this day in our history, The first 10 amendments to the Constitution known as the Bill of Rights has been officially ratified. This was done to ensure that the rights of all citizens are secured from government infringement. These 10 original amendments are to this day the foundation of everything that America stands for as a nation of personal liberties for all who come in search of greater freedom. 

December 17th The Wright Brother's first flight.

On this day in history, Wilbur and Oliver Wright achieved their first take-off on their own plane. The flight lasted 12 seconds and went 120 feet. However, this was officially the first big step to achieving flying in a plane. Prior to this moment people have only managed to fly in hot air balloons, but the Wright brothers have been able to make the first step to plane flying, and barely a decade later first planes already began to appear in the skies. 

December 16 The Boston Tea Party

On this day in history, American patriots made their first steps to standing up to British taxation and despotitional rule. On the night of December 16th, a group of American colonists dressed up as Indians came aboard British merchant ships and destroyed several crates of English tea in protest of unjust taxation. This move infuriated British businessmen since tea was a major sourse of profit, and the Birtish government saw it as an act of defiance of the American people. Despite the efforts of the British military to restrain American patriots, such sabotage continued further throughout the colonies to oppose unjust taxation.
